M.U.S.C.L.E.-like figures featured in episode of 'Urusei Yatsura'!

Rumiko Takahashi's 'Urusei Yatsura' is one of my favorite anime series. It's very silly, strange and funny with great characterisation...find out (not much) more on my Urusei Yatsura page.
Anyway...While watching it, I discovered what I deem to be huge M.U.S.C.L.E./Kinnikuman references in one episode! It's in episode 7, (Vol 2, story 1 of the UK subtitled release) 'Voodoo Dolls of Vengance'. Said Voodoo dolls are little pink figures which Lum, alien girlfriend of Ataru (above), makes as part of a typically disaster-inducing Oni passtime. Kinnikuman figures would no doubt have been popular in the early 80's when this series was made, and there are several points, detailed below, which lead me to believe the similarity is no mere coincidence.

Clues to the Kinnikumanness

Well...for a start, they look like M.U.S.C.L.E. in that they are small, pink, and numerous. Since Lum makes one of everyone in town (ie every character), they are effectively toys of the anime, within the anime. How postmodern.

Ok, so they're a bit bigger that M.U.S.C.L.E., but so what? Besides, there were Kinnikuman figures of varying size.

As you can see, they are certainly played with in a similar manner...
...including being mutilated and generally tested to destruction, as many an unfortunate M.U.S.C.L.E. was. (for entirely different reasons than here though) (I hope!)

Even Ataru's parents can't resist playing!

---What a good picture! Proves nothing, apart from the fact that UY is great!

The final piece of my 'proof' -----}
The Voodoo havoc wreaked by the dolls involves the Moroboshi family's unfortunate neigbors inadvertently being forced to wrestle!

If you have come from my UY page and have no idea what I'm on about, go to my M.U.S.C.L.E. pages
If you've just come from there and are confused, visit my Urusei Yatsura pages
If you've been to both and are still bemused, I'm not surprised!
